STOPware Assists a Community in Need from Hurricane Harvey’s Impact in Houston, TX

Hurricane Harvey formed on August 17th, 2017, and dissipated on September 3, 2017.

On August 25th, Harvey made landfall in Texas. Harvey devastated the area from Houston into Louisiana. In a four-day period, many areas received more than 40 inches (100 cm) of rain as the system stalled over eastern Texas, causing catastrophic flooding. The resulting floods inundated hundreds of thousands of homes, displaced more than 30,000 people, and prompted more than 17,000 rescues.

Dogan Elementary in Houston TX, was one of the places flooded by Harvey. The school and their families were devastated. The school community reached out for help - see gofundme.com/doganrelief

Debbie Mantia, (wife of Phil Mantia, STOPware Senior Account Manager) a former NYC school teacher who now owns/runs Seaside Celebrations, a community based child activity center in Long Beach, NY, knew she wanted to help. Being an educator and understanding the critical need for these children to get back to school, she started a fundraiser campaign to get supplies for Dogan Elementary.

Debbie collected hundreds of new backpacks, school supplies and children's clothing to help the children in this community. Ten boxes of supplies were shipped last week courtesy of STOPware, inc., who was proud to support Debbie’s amazing efforts.
