November 12, 2004Republican National Convention Event Utilizes Visitor Management Solutions From STOPware inc.San Jose, CA (November 12, 2004) –Politicians, convention delegates and special VIP guests attending "Blarney Bash II", held during the Republican National Convention in New York City, were screened for admission by some of the most powerful and innovative threat reduction technology available on the market today. Access to the event, held on an historic tall ship berthed at the South Street Seaport in NYC, was controlled in part by STOPware's PassagePoint visitor management software which helped to ensure the safety and security of the guests. Hosted by the National Association of Irish American Republicans (NAIAR), the Bash honored the 52 members of Congress, nine U.S. senators and 12 U.S. governors who are Irish American republicans, and was the largest party event during the RNC. Custom Solution for a Unique Location"This application of visitor management software was significant for a number of reasons," said Ryan Kaltenbaugh, director of service management for Integrated System Resources (ISR) of Chantilly, Virginia, and designers of the project. "We were able to easily customize the PassagePoint software to integrate with other security products used to safeguard a large VIP event and second, to deploy the application in a non-traditional venue." According to Kaltenbaugh, a VIP list was preloaded into the PassagePoint software and served as the control list, and upon verification of identity, badges for the VIP's and registered guests on the control list were issued. Ticketed guests not on the control list were subject to on-site verification by security personnel and event coordinators prior to being admitted. "The process was efficient and friendly and provided the organizers with a higher level of security management." Convention Showcases Real Life ApplicationsSecurity was a top priority throughout the convention and many threat reduction products and technologies were put through their paces during the week. "The stellar performance of the PassagePoint system at the Blarney Bash was particularly gratifying," said Kaltenbaugh. "Everyone attending the event was required to utilize the system and see it in action. Politicians and government officials in particular were exposed to a live demonstration of leading edge technology available for Homeland Security applications." Advanced VM FeaturesOne of the most important benefits of the PassagePoint visitor management system is the ability to gather and record all pertinent information in a database format to generate reports, verify attendance, or highlight potential threats. The system can be linked with Homeland Security and other government watch lists to enhance first alert capabilities. As mentioned by Kaltenbaugh, and equally as important, is the system's unique capability of being customized for use with higher levels of access control.
